Remember from last week that the Heroic Cycle begins with our hero at his or her starting point. Write a comment about how Percy’s journey has begun. You will probably include things like:
1. How Percy was given his quest
2. What is Percy’s quest
3. Why is he assigned his quest
4. Is Percy’s excited about it, nervous, scared….etc
5. Who are Percy’s friends that will travel with him and help him on his way
Your response will be a couple of good paragraphs. You may use your books to help you write it if you wish!

ReplyDeleteOnce Percy is claimed as Poseidon's son, the gods get angry as Poseidon, Zeus and Hades are not supposed to have children with mortals because they become too powerful. When he is claimed, someone steals Zeus's master bolt, and Zeus thinks that Poseidon had sent Percy to steal it. He goes to the Oracle and asked what his destiny is. The Oracle replies: "You shall go west and face the god who has turned. You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned. You shall be betrayed by one who calls you friend. And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end." Percy of course wants to find the master bolt and clear his name, but he also believes that Hades has stolen it, and he knows that his mom is in the underworld with him, so Percy ultimately wishes to save his mother. He is very anxious to go but worried about the time limit; he only has ten days (until the end of the summer solstice). Percy gets to bring two friends along, his satyr friend Grover, and his half-blood friend, daughter of Athena; Annabeth.

ReplyDelete1. The oracle and Chiron told him about his quest and how he was suppose to stop the father and Zues from fighting. They are fighting over the lightning bolt that apparently Percy stole.
ReplyDelete2. He has to go find out who stole the lightning bolt. He is trying to fix, the gods from fighting. He needs to find the lightning bolt to stop the gods from fighting.
3.Percy is assigned the quest because it is his father that is fighting and the other god, thinks it is Percy that stole the lighting bolt.
4. He has anticipation about going on the quest. He was scared at first but then he had anticipation about going on the quest.
5. Chiron,Annabeth, and Grover are going to help him on his way.

Percy Begins his Heroic Journey
Percy got his first quest in the first week he’s been at camp half blood. Why? Because he is Poseidon’s son, and he only has ten days to complete the quest. His quest his to find Zeus’ master bolt, because Zeus believes Poseidon sent Percy out to steal it. Percy must find the master bolt to prove he did not steal it and return it to Zeus before the summer solstice arrives. The thing is summer solstice is in ten days.
Percy seems pretty confident about this quest. He seems to be very excited and his anger gives him more motivation. Although he was some what nervous, but now knowing that his friends, Grover and Annabeth, are now coming along to help him, the nerves kind of fade away.
Percy was giving his quest by Chiron because the main lightning bolt of Zeus stolen and he and his father are framed for it. And Percy is going to get it back. He is sort unfazed by his quest but annoyed that he is sure to fail. Annabeth and grover go on his quest.
ReplyDeleteChiron gave Percy his quest. Percy had to go into the attic of the cabin that Chiron and Mr. D was always at. When he went into the attic, there was a bunch of things up there including a mummy. Not the type of mummy that you find covered up in paper but like a mummy that use to be a person and you could see it’s leathery skin and stuff. Then this green mist comes out of its mouth and forms the shape of Gabe and his poker buddies, they each tell him a line of his quest. They lines were, “You shall go west, and face what god who has turned. You should find what was stolen, and see it safely returned. You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend. And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end.”
ReplyDeletePercy’s quest is to find Zeus’s thunderbolt. Well, Zeus thinks that either Poseidon or Percy stole it because Zeus doesn’t trust Poseidon and he thinks that Poseidon stole it and gave it to Percy. So there is a big fight going on between them. So people don’t die, Percy has to find the Thunderbolt and give it back to Zeus. Percy has to go into the real world to find the Thunderbolt. Percy thinks that Hades did it.
Percy is assigned his quest because if he doesn’t, Zeus will kill him. Plus if he doesn’t leave to find it, Mr. D will turn him into a dolphin. Mr. D would kill him is he could, but them he would get in a lot of trouble. Percy is very nervous to go on the quest. I think he is also anxious and scared. Yet he will have Annabeth and Grover to join them.

Percy is given a quest from the oracle to return the master bolt to Zeus. He is given this quest because he is Poseidon's son and the main suspect. He is very nervous. He brings grover and annabeth.
